MEET OUR TEAM

Introducing the Vitruvius Team. We are a 2-year-old startup located in Bend, Oregon. We are a collection of diverse, talented, and creative individuals, who are passionate about Structural Engineering and Architectural Design. From our well-seasoned veterans to the newest members of our project, we are thrilled to introduce this new software to you and your team. For decades, we have watched the industry in need of an all-in-one program, so we set out to build an easy to use platform with design modules for users to make fast calculations. Pretty simple right, but then we connected them all with Vitruvius Links... from top to bottom this allows you to make revisions and changes in a fraction of the time, across your project, with your project updating itself with changes automatically. With four levels of the program currently offered, we encourage you to explore a plan that best fits you and your everyday project needs. Our pledge is to provide you with quality customer service and a superior design program at an affordable price. We strive for excellence and for your success. We invite you to join us today! Thank You.

RYAN BRIGGS

Chief Technical Officer, Professional Engineer

Ryan graduated from Brigham Young University in 2004 with his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering, with an emphasis in structural engineering. He worked for a mid-sized structural engineering firm for 5 years before starting his own firm, Arx Engineering, about 10 years ago. He is currently licensed as a professional engineer in 6 states.

His passion for optimization led him to develop many of his own calculation tools and spreadsheets, and eventually to join the Vitruvius team. As a 15 year user of StruCalc and other design software, he understands exactly what designers are looking for in design software. He has the unique perspective of an experienced software user, professional engineer, and business owner.

Above all Ryan likes to spend time with his wife and 5 kids, and do manly things like hiking, trail running, and writing poetry.

NATHAN NISSEN

Co-Founder, Structural Engineer

Nate is our Lead Structural Engineer and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Master’s degree in 2009 and defended his Ph.D. in 2014 before focusing on structural engineering software and working in the fields of material science and structural engineering consulting for multiple companies troubleshooting product failures. Nate spent 4 years working for engineering firms in the Residential and Light Commercial industry where he became familiar with the software plaguing the industry. Nate brings a creativity level mixed with high-level engineering programming skills that blended perfectly with the history of StruCalc and the goals of The Vitruvius Project when he met Adam Wilson in 2016 and started The Vitruvius Project. His frustration of not being able to be as productive as he wanted drove his desire to get in the software side of his industry to help deliver intuitive tools to enable his peers to work more efficiently. “Time is money”, Nate will say. “So whether you are an architect or a structural engineer your time is not only valuable, but it should be more profitable. That’s my goal.”
