Calculation and Code:

All levels of Vitruvius run on a proprietary finite element method (FEM) calculation engine built from the ground up and stringently tested against industry standards. It supports full LRFD and ASD design as well as many custom features. We believe it to be the fastest and most accurate calculation engine in the industry.

Soon! All levels of Vitruvius will support both metric and imperial calculations and units.

Vitruvius currently supports the 2018 International Building Code (IBC), 2018 International Residential Code (IRC), and the 2018 National Design Specification (NDS), 2015 IBC, 2015 IRC, 2012 IBC, 2012 IRC.  Codes that will soon be added include: 2016 California Building Code (CBC), 2017 Florida Building Code (FBC).

Yes! Please submit a request to codes@tvp.global. We do not charge for this service, however, we cannot guarantee lead times for adding new codes. It is dependent on the complexity of the differences between your local code and the international codes.

Yes! Vitruvius Engineer’s are currently researching and testing the Canadian, Australian, British, and European codes with our calculation engine.

Vitruvius supports a number of specialty codes including the ASCE 7-16, AISC 360-16 for steel design, AISI 2015 for Cold-Formed Steel, ACI 318-14 for Concrete, and TMS 402/602-16 for Masonry.

Licensing and Registration:

Vitruvius has flexible licensing options. Every license of Vitruvius is the same price–there are no upfront or hidden fees or expensive main licenses. You can buy as many licenses as you wish and deploy them as either standalone or cloud licenses.

Standalone licenses are registered to a single computer through an easy process. Computers with their own standalone license can be used in offline mode.

Initial registration requires an internet connection. If you register your license in standalone mode, then you can continue to use Vitruvius on that device without an internet connection until it’s time to renew your registration. If you opt for cloud licensing, an internet connection will be required for continued use.

Users may experience intermittent outages during Beta. Once the platform is live, the Vitruvius Cloud will feature industry-leading security and redundancy in an effort to achieve 99.9% uptime. We can guarantee 99% uptime outside of any planned maintenance breaks.

Yes. We understand that users’ needs fluctuate. As such, we will strive to keep all of our memberships as flexible as possible. Monthly memberships can be upgraded or downgraded each month. Annual memberships can also be upgraded and will be pro-rated, but cannot be downgraded. No. We understand the need to work from home, on site, at the office, or while traveling. All Vitruvius cloud licenses can be used anywhere you need to use them. If you need to move a registered standalone license it is a simple process to deactivate on one machine and move to another location.

Cloud licenses are limited by concurrent use–not total installations. For this reason, they require an internet connection at all times. You can have as many user installations as you need, as long as there is not more than one concurrent user per cloud license. If you wish to use Vitruvius on different computers or you have a few users who need access but not at the same time, then one cloud license could suffice for your situation. However, if you have a larger company with many user who need constant access, then you may want to look into multiple cloud licenses. Yes. Vitruvius has an intuitive interface for managing your licenses and users. Each company can decide if they would like a standalone or cloud server installation on their initial installation. If Cloud is chosen, there is an option to give lockable access to individual users to mimic a standalone license that is not shared in the concurrent use pool.

All Vitruvius platforms require either a monthly or annual membership. The annual memberships reflect 10% savings over monthly memberships. The Vitruvius team is passionate about modernizing the software industry for engineers. A low monthly fee for all users means that Vitruvius is more accessibility to those who otherwise couldn’t afford a full-featured solution while also allowing us to continue to unveil new features and provide unparalleled support. 

Yes. Any Vitruvius project file can be opened in any version of the platform. However, if a project file contains features that are not included in the version that it is opened with, those features and designs will be read-only.
