A member that has more than 3 spans will be split into two separate beams. This situation is shown here:

Where BM1 was a double cantilevered 6 span beam. The program will take the left most 3 spans and create one beam,

and then create a second beam with the right most 3 spans

and calculate each of them independently. In this way StruCalc can handle up to 6 spans for a single member. If your design has more than 6 spans you will see a warning with a yellow icon. In this case we suggest you review your design in MiTek to determine if you really need a beam with more than 6 spans.
